The full online application process for primary and secondary schools across England to apply for a free Energy Display Meter is now live.

Well over 10,000 people have registered their interest in obtaining a free display meter for their school since the initiative was launched at the end of January 2010. All those who registered should now have received an email encouraging them to complete the full online application process to get their school on the installation list to receive their energy display meter as soon as possible.

Jeff Whittingham, Head of Energy Services of British Gas Business, said: “The online application form is designed to give our specialist installation teams important information to make the installation process as quick and easy as possible. The form takes schools through a series of questions including the location of the switch room, through to how they intend to display the information gathered in their school.

“Once the application is completed and checked, British Gas will be in contact with schools to let them know when to expect our engineers on site. Then it won’t be long before pupils and teachers will be able to log on to see real-time data about electricity use in their school, and how changes in their behaviour can make a real difference to the amount of energy used.”

Simply click on the ‘Apply now’ button on our homepage to start the application process.
